· DG101 – Introduction to the transport of dangerous goods globally.

· Basic awareness training – Level 2 – For individuals who do not directly handle dangerous goods, but where there is risk from products that may contain dangerous goods.
· Transport of dangerous goods – Level 1 – For trainees who handle or have direct contact with dangerous goods during the normal course of their work.
The South African Dangerous Goods Regulations stipulate the structure and content of the safety training for handlers of dangerous goods. The purpose of this practical application workshop is to provide candidates with practical experience in achieving the key objectives of the 2004 Code of Practice for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by road, rail, sea and inland waterway (SAG 2004).
This workshop is safe for candidates to attend and no specialized dangerous goods carrier license or permit is required. Candidates will gain experience in organizing dangerous goods transport, packaging, labeling, stowage, segregation, loading and unloading procedures. This module has been updated to include sections on satellite navigation systems and referencing other codes and standards. The training consists of a theory examination followed by a practical application exercise.
The course is aimed at providing competency-based training to support the international transport of dangerous goods by all modes of transport in South Africa. Successful completion of this course is a NEC requirement for most industries.
